BACKGROUND
Hooper Medical Centre has been providing general medical services to the south Wexford area since it was established by Dr. William Hooper in 1979. Dr. William was joined by his sister, Dr. Mary Hooper, in 2000. In 2008, Dr. Kilian Hooper moved back from Scotland and subsequently joined the practice.
The Hooper Medical provide a full range of general practice services, including chronic disease management, health screening, antenatal and postnatal care, minor surgery, childhood vaccinations and regular check-ups.

Telephone Lines:

New Medical Card/Doctor Visit Cards:
Any newborns or existing patients of the Practice must apply for a new Medical card/Doctor visit card under Dr. Claire Fahy only as Dr. Kilian Hooper’s panel is full and we will not be able to accept your application on the Primay Care Applicaton application. You will receive a text to change your Doctor of Choice to Dr. Claire Fahy, this process will delay the application process.

Patient De-registration Policy:
Please note that patients who do not attend the surgery within 5 years are automatically de-registered.
If you wish to re-join the surgery please be aware that the waiting list is very lengthy and you will need to re-apply.
Unfortunatley, we can’t guarantee your place.
IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MEASLES:
Check if it’s measles
The first symptoms of measles are:
cold-like symptoms such as aches and pains, a runny nose, sneezing and a cough
sore, red eyes that may be sensitive to light a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius or above (fever), which may reach around 40 degrees Celsius
small greyish-white spots in your mouth
loss of appetite
tiredness, irritability and a general lack of energy

Emergency Walk-In Clinic:
OUR DAILY WALK-IN CLINIC IS STRICTLY FOR MEDICAL EMERGENCIES.
This facility is not for new patients who need to make their initial appointment with the Doctor.
THIS EMERGENCY CLINIC WILL NOT FACILITATE ROUTINE BLOODS OR FORM FILLING e.g DRIVING LICENCE MEDICALS.
AT THE EMERGENCY CLINIC ONLY ONE MEDICAL NEED WILL BE DISCUSSED.
Patients may be instructed by their Doctor to come back to discuss other concerns
at a scheduled appointment time where time will be allotted appropriately.
No appointment is required for registered patients of surgery for the Emergency walk-in Clinic.
Please note this is for EMERGENCIES therefore Limited spaces available:
6 patients slots available IF one Doctor on duty &
12 patient slots IF two Doctors are available.
Please note when the appointments are full, the clinic finishes booking in patients,
it does not run until 9.30am if it reaches capacity beforehand.

Out Of Hours Service:
Caredoc provides an out of hours doctors service for patients with urgent medical problems.
